Old Factory Visit
An annual week long event in which everyone from Wemindji, and some people from Eastmain, relocate to the historic site of Old Factory. This is where the people of Wemindji once lived. There are plenty of activities for all ages including feasts, music and dancing. This event is usually held in mid-July, every summer.

Youth Canoe Expedition
During the Old Factory Visit a group of adventurous youth paddle down the Old Factory River from the headwaters of the Old Factory Lake to the mouth of the river where it exits into James Bay. This is the historical route that was travelled for ages by the Cree of James Bay. The youth are usually accompanied by elders who serve as guides.

Winter Carnival
A special week long event that is usually held in April of every winter. Activities include ice fishing, snowmobile races, wood cutting competitions and plenty of other activities for both young and old alike.

Annual Running Marathon
The Annual 10k Run is usually held at the end of July every summer. Categories include Male and Female. This event is sponsored by the local Youth Council to promote active and healthy lives among Wemindji's youth.

Also sponsored by the local Youth Council, the 20k Bike Marathon is usually held a few days after the 10k Run. Categories include Male and Female.

Invitational Minor Hockey Tournament
One of the most exciting times of the year for parents and children is during the Annual Invitational Minor Hockey and Broomball Tournament. Held in early spring, teams from other communities come to Wemindji to compete in categories ranging from Novice to Midget in both hockey and broomball.

This annual tournament is the high light for Wemindji's senior hockey and broomball teams. Many teams from other communities come to compete in categories that include Class A and Class B Hockey and Broomball.
