Wemindji Log building Course
In Wemindji we are developing our tourism infrastructure within the community. This initiative emphasizes local employment as evidenced by the Wemindji Log Building Course.
Old Factory Visit
An annual visit to the islands of Old Factory where the people of Wemindji once lived. Usually a week-long celebration in mid-July with plenty of traditional activities, feasting and dancing for everyone to enjoy.
Paint Hills Island
A group of islands just offshore from Wemindji. These spectacular islands are a must for any tourist. Sights include beluga whales, seals, waterfowl, and an occasional walrus or polar bear.
Paint Hills Lake
An excellent fishing spot for monstrous pike. This lake has produced some world-class specimens.

Moar Bay is a short 45 minute snowmobile ride from Wemindji. You can enjoy the tranquility and the luxury of some absolutely fantastic ice fishing for speckled and sea-trout.

These very remote Islands are 45 miles offshore and are for the extreme adventurer only. The trip takes about 2 1/2 hours by boat and can be very dangerous. However, once there, you can experience virgin sub-arctic fauna and wildlife beyond your wildest dreams. These Islands are the home to a population of about 20-40 Polar Bears.
Yasinski Lake
This huge lake is renowned for its world-class Walleye fishing. It is accessible with a slipway for launching boats and has a picnic and campground furnished by the Ministère des Loisirs Chasse et Pêche Québec.
